Italian Greyhound Club of America of Texas and Oklahoma.

Charity of the Month: August

This August all proceeds, minus fees, will be donated to Greys Landing Greyhound Placement

Greys Landing Greyhound Placement was formed in 2008. We are a 501©3 tax-exempt adoption group incorporated in WV. We are one of only a few pro-racing Greyhound adoption groups in the U.S. We are the first and so far the only Greyhound adoption group that is a member of the National Greyhound Association.

Our purpose is to find loving forever homes for many of the Greyhounds who are retiring from the tracks and farms in WV. We have also been known to take in older Greyhounds from the farms in the mid-west, younger "racing school flunk-outs" and the occasional "bounce" that was originally placed without the backup of an adoption group. Greys Landing places Greyhounds in homes in PA, WV, OH, NY and the surrounding area. We work closely with the owners, breeders and trainers of the dogs that we place as well as with other adoption groups in the north-east US

Charity of the Month: July

Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE) is a UK based charity which operates independent of the greyhound racing industry. They are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming of abused & abandoned greyhounds & lurchers. They rehome around 800 dogs every year, including cruelty cases who are physically & emotionally scarred & damaged. GRWE nurses these dogs back to health & helps them learn to trust humans again, providing the long periods of foster care & finding the very special permanent homes necessary.

This month's charity was chosen by one of our shop managers, Jane, of Max and Molly Designs.

Charity of the Month: June

This month, all proceeds from the Handmade4Hounds shop go to Greyhound Pets of America, Massachusetts

GPA MASS has a special project they need our help with! They are building an Isolation Kennel for their new greyhounds, to be in compliance with MA law that requires dogs from out of state to be quarantined for 2 days. Right now they have to pay to board them, and the conditions are less than ideal for greyhounds. Let's help GPA MASS build their kennel! Since 1987, they have been dedicated to finding good homes for greyhounds that retire from the racetrack, and spreading the word that greyhounds make great pets.

Charity of the Month: April

This month all proceeds, minus fees, will be donated to: Maine Greyhound Placement Service

Maine Greyhound Placement Service is a 501(3)c humane non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving, responsible homes for retired racing Greyhounds that can no longer compete on the racetrack. MGPS is operated by volunteers and depends on fundraising for its operating expenses.

"Our adoption kennel is currently in an old milking barn that we converted over 8 years ago and now accommodates 45 plus retired racers, a boarding room, our gift shop, office and laundry. Since then, we have outgrown the facility and it is also becoming a safety problem for both the dogs and our volunteers. Therefore, we are actively working on building a state of the art new kennel facility, and appreciate any and all the help we can get. The Greyhounds and humans of Maine Greyhound Placement Service thank you for your support."

Charity of the Month: March

This month, all proceeds minus Etsy and PayPal fees go to:
Gold Coast Greyhound Adoption - Orlando

Gold Coast Greyhounds Orlando is a branch of the Clearwater, Florida based Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions, Inc. GCGA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all volunteer organization, that is racing neutral and dedicated to the placement of retired racing greyhounds into qualified, caring and loving homes. It is our mission to educate the public regarding the gentle nature and wonderful temperament of the greyhound breed.

As a non-profit organization, we operate on a very limited budget. Our largest expenditures are for veterinary care and transportation of dogs to adoption groups in non-racing states. All donations directly benefit homeless racing greyhounds and are both welcomed and acknowledged.

Our mission is to prepare retired greyhounds for homes by providing excellent foster care by families who have been trained by Barkbusters Home Dog Training. The dogs are a step ahead in their education from track to home and are wanted by several adoption groups throughout the country.

We placed 265 greyhounds in 2010 in adoptive homes or with out-of-state adoption groups. So far this year we have taken in 42 greyhounds.

Last month we raised $291.74 for Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN).

This month all proceeds, minus fees, will be donated to Oregon Greyhound Adoption.

Oregon Greyhound is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is to find permanent, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. Our goals are threefold: To inform and educate the public about the joys of greyhound adoption; to identify suitable, caring homes for retired racers; and to provide pre- and post-adoption support to facilitate the transition from the track to home.

OGA also has a unique and charitable focus for 2011, "The Gift of Life" greyhound blood donor program. Where greyhounds are life savers and superheros!

"Not only will your greyhound give you years of love and devotion, but they may also help save the lives of other dogs. Canine blood donors are essential to critically ill or injured dogs. Dogs that are good candidates for blood donation have a friendly temperament, are 55 pounds or over and are from 1 – 8 years of age."

Charity of the Month: January

This month, all money raised in our store, minus Etsy and PayPal fees, goes to: Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN).

GRIN's Mission: founded to establish a relationship between the galgo shelters in Spain and animal lovers around the world. Our love of greyhounds and concern for their plight drew us to their cousins - the Galgos. Galgos are used for hunting in Spain, and are normally abandoned or killed at the end of hunting season.

Working closely with Spanish galgo shelters, G.R.I.N. raises awareness of the galgo's plight through international educational campaigns and fundraising. They also aid shelters and assist with adoptions for rehomed Galgos in the US. Please visit www.galgorescue.org for more information.
